Aquatic therapy consists of an exercise program designed to be performed in the water under the direction of a physical therapist. Water absorbs most of the pressure that body weight typically puts onto joints. By conducting therapy exercises in the water, the body becomes more buoyant, resulting in reduced joint stress.

Aquatic therapy is an excellent option for people who struggle with full weight-bearing or high-impact exercises but need to work on walking, jumping or landing. It is also beneficial for those who are healing fractured bones, experiencing acute low back pain, recovering from surgery, suffering from arthritis or are overweight.

We see people of all ages for a variety of issues including:

  • Functional abilities
  • Aerobic capacity and endurance
  • Balance, coordination and agility
  • Body movement and posture
  • Walking ability
  • Relaxation
  • Muscle strength, power and endurance
