Dr. Brett Smith, PT
Clinic Manager

Brett Smith is originally from Racine, Wisconsin but has called Nebraska his home for the past 30 years. After  graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, he went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Marymount University.  Brett is also a certified athletic trainer (ATC)  and enjoys covering sporting events.

With over 35 years of experience, Brett enjoys working with patients of all ages and specializes in orthopedic and sports injuries, Functional Dry Needling and custom orthotics fabrication.

Dr. Colton Walker, PT

A native of Kearney, Nebraska, Colton Walker earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center (Kearney campus), after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a double major in Health Sciences and Biology from University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Colton combines expertise in geriatrics and post-surgerical recovery with core abilities in injury prevention, intervention and rehabilitation throughout the lifespan.

Dr. Kym Laursen, PT

Essex, Iowa native Kym Laursen graduated from the doctoral program in physical therapy at Creighton University. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Doane University.

Kym’s special interest in pediatric therapy brings a new facet of care to Nebraska City Physical Therapy’s scope of services. She is also skilled at treating concussions and managing the physical, cognitive and behavioral issues that result. Kym excels at treating patients of all ages.

Susan Benton, PTA

Originally from Malvern, Iowa, Susan Benton is a longtime resident of Nebraska City.

Susan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from University of Nebraska at Omaha and an Associate degree after completing the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Susan has over 25 years of experience working with patients of all ages in outpatient and skilled care settings. ​

June Chaney

A lifelong resident of Nebraska City, June Chaney has worked at Nebraska City PT since 2013 after retiring from her previous careers at Cargill and American Meter.

As our rehab technician, June wears a number of hats and generally keeps everything flowing smoothly at the clinic.

June is married to Tony with whom she has two wonderful sons and five grandchildren.




Jody Butler

Jody Butler grew up in Hays, Kansas and attended Thomas More Prep.

As the first face our patients see at the clinic, Jody strives to make each patient experience as stress-free and pleasant as possible from beginning to end. Jody’s background in insurance and billing make her a perfect fit as our administrative assistant.

Jody and her husband Darren have two adult children and a grandson. They have called Auburn home since 1999.
